Ebenezer Children smiling for the camera
Ebenezer Fundraising Event |
Hello,
In the summer of 2007, my Uncle Jack, a Physician Assistant who dedicates his life and medical expertise to the world’s poorest, my cousin Kristen and I travelled to Zambia. Together we worked in the Ebenezer school and orphanage, and journeyed into the “bush” to experience, first hand, tropical medical care.
In anticipation of the trip, I communicated with Ranji, the founder of the Ebenezer Child Care Trust (ECCT), to determine the needs of the school and orphanage. Socks and educational materials were top on her list. I immediately enlisted the assistance of my classmates and initiated a campaign to collect socks and educational materials from my school community, friends and neighbors. The campaign was successful and I packed my suitcases with 700+ pairs of children’s socks and a wealth of educational books and materials.
I knew Ranji was an incredible woman from her emails. However, I was in awe once I had the privilege of spending time with her. Her dedication, benevolence and unselfishness, and that of her husband Dr. Chara and their daughter, are beyond words.
During our talks, Ranji acknowledged that a major stumbling block in the United States, for support of the orphanage and school, was that donations were not tax deductable. By establishing the Foundation, and receiving IRS approval for tax free donations, the Foundation now has a vehicle to assist in raising the critically needed funds in the United States. The Foundation’s Directors process all donations for the Ebenezer. There are no overhead costs to the Foundation as all Directors, legal staff and assistance are donated. 100% of your donation will go to the operation of the Ebenezer school and orphanage.
There are an estimated 650,000 orphans in Zambia, with many of them living on the streets. The child abuse stories of some of the orphans are heart wrenching.
I hope you will find it in your heart to help the children of Zambia.
Thank you for your thought
ful consideration and generous support.
Sincerely,

Alexandra Chistolini, Founder & President
